Nature coaching

Nurturing through nature and bringing Mother Nature into the equation.

Nature Coaching

Whenever I can I want to take the sessions out into nature; I offer walk and talk sessions for both children and parents as well as outdoor sessions. recognising the need for both movement and stillness, playfulness and deepness, exploring and reflecting.

Nature offers one of the most powerful and accessible settings for personal growth and emotional regulation.

Research shows that being outdoors:

Stimulates the senses and supports healthy brain function

  • Stimulates the senses.
  • Supports healthy brain function.
  • Enhances executive processes
  • Promotes neurogenesis and neuroprogramming.
  • Creates space for calm and clarity. Simply stepping into a fresh environment helps us reset, regulate, and reconnect.

In my practice, I love offering walk-and-talk sessions. Moving side by side in nature often feels more natural than sitting face-to-face — especially for children with social communication needs, who may find eye contact challenging. The rhythm of walking, the openness of the outdoors, and the gentle sensory input all create an environment that encourages reflection and ease.

Nature itself becomes a co-coach in this process. We use changing patterns, natural metaphors, and the landscape around us to explore emotions, build self-awareness, and inspire new perspectives. It’s a collaborative, triangular relationship - between the child, nature, and myself - where I simply facilitate the connection and learning that naturally unfold.

At the heart of this work is connection - a deeper, richer connection both inwardly, to our own inner nature, and outwardly, to the world around us. Through this, children learn to be more considerate and compassionate, not only toward themselves but toward the environment that sustains us - something increasingly vital in a world where our connection with nature is often lost.

Being in nature also builds confidence and courage. It invites children to explore who they are, reflect, and see themselves mirrored in the natural world. In the presence of ancient trees and enduring landscapes, they can find safety and strength - a space to sit with uncomfortable feelings, to stay with the fire of emotion, and to grow more resilient and grounded.

Finally, nature reminds us of the beauty of change. Everything in the natural world is in constant flux and transformation, just as we are. For children navigating the transitions of growing up - changing schools, relationships, or identities - nature offers living examples of adaptation and flow. It teaches us to be agile, to trust the process, and to simply be rather than constantly do - a powerful antidote to our fast-paced, overstimulated world.

Personally, I’ve found that time in nature has been deeply beneficial for my own mental health, and I’m passionate about bringing more of this grounded, restorative work into my coaching practice. Together, with nature as our co-coach, we can find connection, clarity, and courage in every step.
